This book has action from the start. I wanted to read this book from the moment I sank my eyes into it. The writer has a very good way of presenting his voice and it doesn't take long before the story grabs you. Just as I started thinking how well this book was written a fight seen breakouts, giving me the action I required, and not too far into the story.
Get Lenin is set in the midst of World War II and I found it to be an enjoyable read. The book also takes you on a journey through European streets during the early stages and gives you a nice feel of Paris and other European places -This is of course before the war breaks out.
The story has a balanced share of good and bad guys, with the cold-blooded Metzger and photographer named Eva, who I thoroughly enjoyed the company of throughout the read.
I set out on a mission to help Authors by reading as many books as I could and then having the courtesy to leave my thoughts. It was a pleasure to read this story; I had this one finished within 48 hours.
I strongly recommend this book and I'll be reading another story by this Author in the very near future.
As an author I look at books differently than those who are strictly readers. I look for 'voice', and Mr. Craven has it. I look for believable dialogue. Again, this book features well crafted dialogue and good interaction. Get Lenin is professionally presented in e-book format, and quite easy to read.
Eva is a wonderful character, and though the premise of the story is somewhat far fetched (though thoroughly enjoyable!)her journey will entertain you and often give you pause to think about what people can and will do in troubling and desperate times and situations.
Well done!
Highly recommended!
I hope Mr. Craven is crafting a sequel. There's a lot of WWII left, and he surely left the door open.

DAD KNOWS BEST!
I originally bought the paperback of Get Lenin for my father as he enjoys a good war book. He enthused about it so I treated myself to a copy for my kindle.
Dad was right! Robert Craven has written a thoughtful and well-planned novel. From the beginning Craven gives us some vividly described characters and some history to each. His heroine Eva is a gorgeous sexy woman who after suffering a great loss uses her feminine charms to her advantage during desperate times and those of her `employers'.
I liked the scene setting, and Robert Craven has obviously done his WW2 homework - I learnt a lot reading the book and yet despite the history thrown out in liberal doses I found Get Lenin an easy read.
The story is exciting, it kept me enthralled throughout. My only complaint was that the ending was slightly weaker. Because of that I feel the book merits a 4.5 star award instead of the full Monty. (5***** goes to Mr Craven's second book - but that is a different review.)
Overall highly recommended and even if you are not a history or WW2 fan don't be put off - this is a good read.
You don't need to be a world war buff to enjoy this book. I prefer hardcore fast paced murder mysteries, and so assumed that this will be a quick, rather OK sorta read to kill time. But boy was I wrong ! I am amazed how quick I got sucked into this novel.
This is a spy novel. These spies however are not equipped with fancy toys (designed for them well ahead of their time). These are believable flawed people who survive in field based on on their sharp minds, and in case of some like the main protagonist named Eva .... their beauty too. The author did a brilliant job giving just enough background information about the characters to keep the readers interested... no more no less.
The story is described well in the description, and I don't think adding more is going to do much. All I can say is that its a decently priced book that is a joy to read !
I like WWII espionage/thrillers, and this is an unexpectedly good one. In some ways it reminded me of the classic Jack Higgins' book - "The Eagle has Landed" - where the Germans tried to kidnap Churchill to demoralise the British war effort. This time the plot is to "kidnap" Lenin's body and put it on display in Berlin to demoralise the Soviet people.
We meet Eva Molenaar when her boy-friend is killed by Nazi brownshirts. When she recovers from the shock she vows to get revenge, and that revenge comes when she is recruited by Polish intelligence and then by MI5 to get them information from inside Germany. With her considerable language skills and and beauty she befriends the Mosley clique in England and meets a rich US sympathiser who has entry into Hitler's inner circle.
The seductive Polish-born spy puts her body on the line at the heart of the Reich to provide British spymaster Henry Chainbridge with vital intelligence about German plans, especially one concocted by Himmler to kidnap Lenin's mausoleum as the German armies close in on Moscow.
While I found some of the kidnapping action a bit over the top it would probably make a great movie. This was a good and enjoyable first novel by Robert Craven and I look forward to reading the sequel Zinnman very soon.
